Former Chelsea no.2 Wilkins: AVB has to handle senior players better
Ray Wilkins believes Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has to treat the senior players at the club a bit better.
The former Blues assistant feels that the Portuguese has to man-manage his established stars with more positivity if he wants to get the best out of the likes of Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard and Michael Essien.
The pair were left on the bench for last night’s 3-1 Champions League loss to Napoli and Wilkins believes Villas-Boas needs to take a leaf out of Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson’s book.
"You see how well Sir Alex Ferguson manages the likes of (Paul) Scholes and (Ryan) Giggs and (Rio) Ferdinand, he manages them magnificently well - not only the playing time but also as human beings.
"There has got to be conversation and if Andre is asking for their opinion, then he shouldn't be too shocked when the opinion comes back because they are very powerful and very strong personalities, these guys he's dealing with.""It's very important that when Andre is dealing with the senior players that those discussions have to take place," Wilkins told Sky Sports News.

Have to agree but then it is what FIFA wanted as they did and do not like the power the Prem teams had hence the FFP rules designed to stop the Chelsea's and the rest from getting to powerful.
