Marcel Desailly suggests that Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure should once again be crowned the African Player of the Year.
The Ivory Coast ace took out the Confederation of African Football (CAF) award in both 2011 and 2012 and Ghanaian-born Desailly feels he is the man to take out for a third straight year.
"Of course, there is a field of very talented players who have been nominated for the award, but definitely Yaya will take this crown," he told Goal.com.
"He is not only one of my best players currently, but has also shown a lot of consistency throughout last season and this season and he deserves this award."
Toure is up against the likes of Chelsea's John Obi Mikel, Southampton's Victor Wanyama, Roma's Gervinho and Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The winner will be announced at the Glo-CAF Awards Gala scheduled for Thursday, January 9, 2014 in Lagos, Nigeria.
