Former Cesena coach Massimo Ficcadenti is being linked with the Senegal job.
Ficcadenti yesterday claimed he had not had any contact with the Senegalese FA over the position, but he also refused to rule out the possibility and reports in Italy are now gathering pace.
The Coach is in fact still under contract with Cagliari until 2013 and cannot negotiate with another club until a settlement is reached with the Sardinians.
"There is a willingness on both sides to do everything, but there's no rush, I can't train in Italy until June.
"Possibly there is something there [with Senegal], but I have not yet had direct contact.
