Former West Bromwich Albion boss Gary Megson says his old club are in for an immediate return to the Championship unless they spend significant money. Megson won two promotions to the top flight in four years at Albion.
"It depends what they do. If they go with what they've got now won't be able to do it," Megson told BBC WM.
"At some point they're going to have to speculate a little bit." Megson thinks the example set by both Wolves and Birmingham City in 2009/10 when they both stayed up after winning promotion is one the Baggies have to follow.
"Wolves did brilliantly last year but they had a little bit of a go at it. Birmingham were exactly the same," he said.
Albion are about to embark on their fifth season in the Premier League since 2002 and Megson feels a bit for the fans who see the side play at different levels on a fairly regular basis.
"You do feel a little bit sorry for the supporters in terms of being the definitive yo-yo club.
"If that's all you want to do then it's fine - as long as you always do come back," Megson said.
"The problems you have is when you don't do that but at some point West Brom have to kick on a little bit."
