Former boss Aldridge wants Tranmere to appoint Jones as manager

Former Tranmere boss John Aldridge is keen for his former club to appoint Dave Jones to the managerial vacancy at Prenton Park. Rovers, who are bottom of the Football League, sacked former Exeter assistant Rob Edwards on Monday after the rookie manager won just two of his opening 12 league games in charge.

Aldridge, who managed Tranmere between 1996 and 2001, said on his Twitter account @Realaldo474: "I sincerely hope that the next choice of manager for TRFC is the right one. It really hurts to see the league table.

"No my days of management are well I (sic) the past. Dave jones could be a good shout????of (sic) he's available."
