Aberdeen winger Sone Aluko is set to depart the Scottish club in the summer so he can return to his native England.
The former Birmingham City youngster first left the Midlands to take up a loan deal with the Dons in 2007 before returning to spend some time with Blackpool.
He then moved to the Pittodrie Stadium permanently in 2008 and has become a regular starter in the past three seasons but it has become apparent that he is now homesick and is looking to get back to England at the end of the current campaign.
"There have been no offers for Sone, but if players are not willing to stay I will bring in strong replacements," said Dons boss Craig Brown in the Press and Journal.
"Sone was made a very good offer which we hoped would persuade him to remain here because he is very popular with our fans as he is the type of player who can entertain.
"Unfortunately, it looks as if he could go at the end of the season. If he does we will be entitled to compensation.
"He has been very honest and said he would like to return to England as homesickness is a factor. Money is not an issue as he would like to be back near to his home in Birmingham."
