Former Aston Villa star Angel unsure of future in New York

New York Red Bulls captain Juan Pablo Angel is unsure of his future with the club.

The former Aston Villa striker says he is keen to remain at the struggling club but is not certain if he is required.

"I'm not unclear (on wanting to return),'' Angel said.

"The fact is I have an extra year on my contract. What I did say was that it's been an absolute honor to be first of all invited to play for this league, for this franchise. But knowing when you have a year like this, the chances are that changes are going to be made; and I'm subject to it as well.

"I said last year when it was a phenomenal year that you never know what is going to happen, and I keep saying it this year, although I have a contract and I keep saying if I had to do it all over again it would still choose Red Bull and I would come back to this franchise again. But I've been in this industry for 17, 18 years, and I know when you have a season like this, changes are going to be made and I'm subject to it.

"At the end of the year the company will review the future. I will have to think about it myself. And then when we sit down together they will say if I'm part of it still, I'll be delighted. But if I'm not, I know this is the way this industry works. But I always said when we had successful years or terrible years like this has been, the chances are that something is going to happen.''
