Former Arsenal defender Emmanuel Eboue is training with Sunderland with a view to earn a deal with the club.
The 32-year-old last played a competitive game in May and is without a club since leaving Galatasaray in the summer.
It is believed that Eboue is simply training with the Black Cats in a bid to keep fit but the Wearside club still has the option to sign him as a free agent if Sam Allardyce wishes to strengthen his defence for the relegation battle ahead.
The right-back made 214 appearances for the Gunners before joining the Turkish club in 2011.
