Former Arsenal ace Ljungberg looking to resume career in England

Freddie Ljungberg is still looking to continue his football career despite a few failed experiments in the last few years.

The former Arsenal star has seen his career go from West Ham United to Seattle Sounders to Chicago Fire to Celtic and most recently to Japan with Shimizu S-Pulse since leaving the Gunners in 2007.

Ljungberg has decided to split with Shimizu after just six months in the J-League and his agent, Walid Bouzid, told Al Jazeera that there could now be an option in England for the Swede.

"There was interest but they were not the right English clubs. French and Scandinavian clubs also showed interest," he said.

"He wants to play in a club battling for league titles, but he also wants his final project to give him a chance to give something back to society.

"Freddie is a competitor. Freddie still has at least a year and a half, if not two, that he wants to play."

Ljungberg, who won two Premier League titles and three FA Cups with Arsenal, has recently been linked with League One club MK Dons.
