Chicago Fire striker Sherjill MacDonald has apologised for his reaction at being subbed off during the weekend's 1-0 win over Columbus Crew.
The 28-year old former Anderlecht, West Bromwich Albion and Germinal Beerschot forward reacted angrily when he was hooked by Fire boss Frank Klopas and although he admitted he was frustrated, he is willing to work hard to get into goalscoring form.
"Of course maybe out of frustration I had a reaction in the game, but I'm still a team player," MacDonald said.
"Of course I want to play. It was just an emotional reaction and I apologized to the group about it. So we just move on. What's really important is that in my game I feel I'm much better. So I just have to keep working and playing good."
He added: "I've been in these situations before where I don't score, and then sometimes you score a lot of goals in a row. I always try to look at the bright side. At least my game is better. That is for me the most important. Hopefully, if I can keep this same game I can score a goal."
