Atletico Madrid striker Diego Forlan says beating Inter Milan in the European Super Cup would mean prestige for his club.

Forlan is regarded as Atletico's biggest threat to Inter on Friday.

He said: "Inter are a team that has strong players. But the European Super Cup is won over just one game and we'll try to take our chances.

"I hope Atletico win: it would be fantastic for us. I have seen Inter play against Roma on Saturday night and I noted that they have the same base as last season.

"Inter work very well on a collective and individual level. They are a spectacular and complete team. They deserved to win the Champions League."

Finally, Forlan was asked about rumours linking him with a move to Inter earlier this summer.

"I have always said that they were only rumours. No offer arrived. I have another three years on my contract and I am very happy at Atletico Madrid."
