Stoke City boss Mark Hughes is being won over by Wilson Palacios in preseason.

Palacios featured promisingly for a second successive friendly after playing the first 70 minutes of the 1-0 win in Dallas in a deep-lying midfield role.

"I think Wilson can do well for us this year," Hughes stressed after the win in Dallas.

"He's an experienced international who understands the way we have been asking him to play.

"It's been difficult for him at Stoke being out in the cold for a long time and if he plays well for us it will be like a new signing."
