Forgotten man Bardsley not eyeing Stoke exit

Stoke City defender Phil Bardsley is not giving up on his future with the club despite a lack of playing opportunities this season.

Following the arrival of Glen Johnson in the summer, the 30-year-old right-back has made only one league appearance for the Potters, but insists he is willing to be patient.

Bardsley told Sky Sports News HQ: "Glen has come in and he's had a terrific start. Everyone knows how good a player he is.

"He's played so many times for England and been at top clubs like Liverpool, Chelsea and West Ham throughout his career. It's up to me to keep the pressure on him.

"It's difficult at the minute as the team's doing so well but I need to keep working hard and hopefully I'll come into the manager's thoughts in the near future.

"I've had a chat with the manager and going out on loan or leaving has not come into the conversation quite yet.

"It's frustrating when you're not playing but the team are doing fantastically at the minute and it's all about being patient and waiting for your opportunity.

"We'll take it day by day and I'll try to train as hard as I possibly can, which I try to do every day. Hopefully a chance will come. If not, we'll assess the situation and see where they go from there."
