Nottingham Forest have opted against a new stadium in favour of redeveloping the City Ground. The Championship club are discussing the possibility of increasing the City Ground's capacity to 37,000 (currently 30,576) - but only if they reach the Premier League.
"We are not doing anything any longer when it comes to a new stadium," chairman Nigel Doughty told the Nottingham Post.
"We know the City Ground is in need of a buff and a polish. When we get back into the Premier League, hopefully we can do that.
"The idea is to do something with the corporate and one area of the ground we can develop is the Main Stand. The question is, how much capacity would we need? If we built an ordinary stand, it would take us to around 35,000. If we did a full wrap-around, it would go up to about 37,000, in theory."
The current capacity of the City Ground is 30,576.
