Forest fullback Gunter: Arsenal midfielder Ramsey now mentally stronger

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey is mentally tougher after recovering from his broken leg injury, says Wales teammate Chris Gunter.

Gunter saw Ramsey make his competitive return as a Nottingham Forest replacement as they lost 1-0 to Leicester on Monday, 29 November.

Defender Gunter told the Sport Wales TV show: "He's mentally a lot stronger.

"As a best mate I know what he's gone through over the last nine months.

"It was brilliant to see him come on. I thought he did really well in the time he had and you can tell he's a tough lad.

"He mentioned it to me [going on loan] and I told him about the club and stuff and the only reason he's gone out on loan is because he needs to play games otherwise if he hadn't got injured, he'd be in the Arsenal team every week.

"It's just really good to see him. He's certainly mentally a lot stronger.

"He's a nightmare anyway, he gets bored quite easily at the best of times. He had to ice it every day and he couldn't get around.

"He was a nightmare, I suppose, and he's lucky that he's got a really good family, but he coped better than I thought with his boredom and stuff.

"He's come back and he's a lot stronger and mentally in years to come I'm sure he'll say it's made him a much stronger person."
