Forest boss McClaren struggling to increase squad depth

Nottingham Forest boss Steve McClaren is becoming frustrated as attempts to increase the quality and depth of his team seem to be taking forever. The former England boss has signed Andy Reid, George Boateng and Jonathan Greening but insists he is lacking numbers.

"We're competitive but not where I want to be. I'm pleased with the guys we've brought in, but we need more," McClaren told BBC Radio Nottingham. "It's probably the most frustrating pre-season off the field for years.

"We are a little frustrated off the field. It took us too long to bring in experienced players and we're still not at the stage where I would say the squad is complete. We're searching and searching but I've got to say it's very frustrating.

"I'd like some new players in today, tomorrow. If that's possible I don't know, but we're working very, very hard behind the scenes to bring people in. However, there's still a lot of work to be done off the field.

"We're competitive in what we have, I think we're roughly the same team, the same squad as last season."
