Forest beat Wolves to USA striker Findley

According to Wolves boss Mick McCarthy, Nottingham Forest have beaten him to the signing of Robbie Findley. Wolves had United States striker Findley on trial and wanted a second look at him before making a decision on offering him a contract.

But McCarthy told the Express and Star: "We had him here, he came and trained with us, got two or three days, but he's gone to Nottingham Forest.

"We brought him over but he was injured when he came here so we gave him treatment and then he went to Nottingham Forest, so we'll never know.

"I think he's been offered a contract, whereas we wanted to have a look at him."

Findley played three of his country's four World Cup finals games in the summer and is a free agent after leaving MLS side Real Salt Lake.
