Brad Davies reviews a lively weekend of English football on Twitter, with plenty of banter and celebrations to the forefront.

Once again Manchester United stretched their Premier League lead to 15 points on Saturday with victory over a plucky Norwich. With Robin Van Persie having held the spotlight for most of the campaign, the win served as a reminder of the talent of another summer signing in Shinji Kagawa.

The former Borussia Dortmund playmaker, who has been a somewhat peripheral figure so far in his first season at Old Trafford, scored a hat-trick notable for it's high quality finishing.

Rio Ferdinand was quick to inform everyone of the landmark the Japanese international's effort represented, tweeting - "#KagawaHattrick 1st Asian player to score a hattrick in the EPL....."

Kagawa himself was thankful for the home support and already looking ahead to the Real Madrid tie in mid-week tweeting - "I appreciate your great supports which gave me today's goals! The next match is coming soon, so I am going to bed to have a good rest (*^^*)"

After knocking in his 11th league goal of the season and watching compatriot Kevin Mirallas add another, Marouane Fellaini was full of pride for his home nation tweeting - "Yesterday, it was good to have 3 points and two see two Belgian goals in Goodison Park"

Sunday's Tottenham v Arsenal match was hyped as a potential changing of the guard in North London. In something of a role reversal of recent history, it was Spurs looking to regain 3rd position from Chelsea and Arsenal fighting to stay in touch in the battle for 4th place. The 2-1 Tottenham win came as a massive boost for Spurs, who have been tortured by the Gunners over the last two decades and the players took to twitter to celebrate.

Having kept up his amazing scoring run, Gareth Bale tweeted - "YES!! Amazing win and great team performance today from the lads! Atmosphere was electric #ohwhenthespurrrsss"

Joining Bale on the scoresheet was Aaron Lennon who tweeted - "Massive win today to take us back into 3rd the lane was rocking, roll on Thursday #buzzing #coys"

Jan Vertonghen tweeted a photo captioned: "Celebrating in the dressing room!! What a win today!!!"

Former England cricket captain Michael Vaughan took the opportunity to enjoy the misery of outspoken Gooner Piers Morgan, employing Rio Ferdinand to help him kickstart one of their favourite hashtags.

Rio happily rallied the troops and in attempting to wind-up Morgan, tweeted - "I think it's that time again fella...here we go...let's get it trending...all together now!" "#Tears4Piers"

Piers' response to Rio came with venom - "Wait until Ronaldo guts you Tuesday, Sicknote"

Rio hit back with - "ya teams playing NOW, so don't concern yaself with our CL business, u got a derby to watch + support ya team in!"

There was a hint of sarcasm picked up when Piers tweeted - "Oh good #Tears4Piers trending in UK - always makes me feel so loved."

Just when things were going quiet, Wayne Rooney decided to join in the banter with Piers, tweeting him - "hello big pants"

However, Piers got straight on the front foot with a response of "Hi mate" which included a link to a picture of Shrek.

Finally, let's spare a thought for our old mate Peter Odemwingie who is still copping grief about his infamous Sunday drive down to Loftus Road. "Can see few jokes coming like not late to drive there now. When will the joke become too old? I tire o ."
