FOOTIE TWEETS: Everton's Fellaini apologises, Man Utd sing while they're winning

Brad Davies takes a look at the reaction on Twitter from the great and the good of the Premier League this past weekend.

Having been condemned by his own manager for headbutting Ryan Shawcross during Everton's 1-1 draw with Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium on the weekend, Marouane Fellaini issued an apology for his actions on Sunday Tweeting "I apologise completely to Ryan Shawcross, my team mates and to our fans at the game. I know I shouldn't have done what I did."

While there was no online response from Shawcross, Gary Lineker was quick to offer his thoughts on the incident albeit seemingly with tongue in cheek, tweeting "Diabolical from Fellaini. Lord knows what damage he would've have done but for the cushion on his head."

Meanwhile, having taken care of Sunderland 3-1 on Saturday afternoon, a number of Manchester United players gathered for Christmas celebrations at Rio Ferdinand's restaurant, Rosso. Reflecting on the night which included a well received karaoke rendition of 'Gangnam Style' by Shinji Kagawa, Ferdinand tweeted "Kagawa is one funny guy! Made my night last night with the song he sang for the lads! Classic!" A video of Shinji in full voice later made it's way online along with footage of Robin Van Persie belting out Glory Glory Man United.

With United's defensive crisis now having eased and a 6 point lead established at the Premier League summit it seems Rio was happy to let his hair down on the night, tweeting "Just been violently assaulted by a hangover! #Hydrate #Fluids."

Perhaps worried Sir Alex may be checking in on his feed he quickly followed the tweet up with "The fluids have worked a treat there, feel a million dollars now!! A litre of aqua guzzled down in record time!"
