Wednesday night saw a couple of interesting international friendlies take place in both England and the USA.

In London's Wembley Stadium, England drew 1-1 with the Republic of Ireland whilst over in Cleveland, Belgium beat the USA 4-2.

Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole captained England for the first time and was over the moon as the Three Lions get set to travel to Rio de Janeiro to meet Brazil on Sunday.

Chelsea FC took time to congratulate their star defender….

Norwich City keeper John Ruddy was left wondering why Canaries teammate Wes Hoolahan can't get any minutes for Ireland.

West Bromwich Albion's English-born former Ireland international Steven Reid was happy to see Baggies teammate Ben Foster replace Joe Hart at half-time.

Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany was delighted to see some Belgium fans in Cleveland following his side's 4-2 win over the USA in a friendly at the home of the Cleveland Browns.

Chelsea's Thibaut Courtois, who was not involved in the game, added.

DaMarcus Beasley made his 100th appearance for the USA.

Stoke City's Maurice Edu was full of praise for his former Rangers teammate.

AZ ace Jozy Altidore was impressed by the game style of the triumphant Belgians.

Bolton midfielder Stuart Holden, who has returned from injury, came on to play the final ten minutes of the US' loss.

And Aston Villa star Christian Benteke was all up for the contest prior to the match. He then went out and scored a double!
