Football is fun again for Preston's Kilkenny

Neil Kilkenny insists he is loving football again following his move to Preston North End.

The 28-year old Australian midfielder joined the Lilywhites on a permanent deal earlier this month, after an initial loan, which ended a horror spell with Bristol City.

The former Leeds United man is part of a Preston side that has an opportunity gain promotion from League One and he admits he is enjoying his time at Deepdale.

"It's been good," Kilkenny, who is contracted to Preston until the end of the season, told au.fourfourwto.com.

"Obviously going to a winning team and to a team that's fighting for promotion at the top of the table, it's been good. I've really enjoyed it.

"It really helps when you know the manager and it's a manager (Simon Grayson) I had a successful time under at Leeds.

"He's been really, really good to me. I can't thank him and his assistant enough for that they've done for me."

As for what is ahead, Kilkenny was not putting too much thought into his future: "I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

"Obviously I'm really enjoying my time at Preston, it's a great club, great tradition.

"I just have to take it step-by-step, day-by-day. At the minute I'm happy and that's what it's all about for me because I've had a really disappointing two and half years at Bristol, which I didn't really enjoy."
