Flynn happy with first weeks at Blackburn

Blackburn defender Johnny Flynn is enjoying his football at Ewood Park following a January move from Irish side Ballymena.

The 18-year-old defender made his reserve-team debut against Manchester United last week, helping Rovers to a 2-1 win.

He told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph: "I'm really enjoying the experience. It's so professional over here.

"I played my first game in a friendly against Manchester City, and played in the youth team against West Brom so it was great to get playing.

"I was really impressed with everything I saw when I came here on trial, so it was brilliant to finally be a Rovers player.

"I'm just going to try and work my hardest to get into the starting XI for the reserves, but with a three-and-a-half year contract it's up to me to do enough to merit a place in the first team."
