Four goals and two floodlight failures was the tally at Fratton Park as Portsmouth and Leeds ended 2-2 in an entertaining game on the South Coast. The floodlights failed twice in the second half after Leeds had twice come from a goal down to level the scores in this npower Championship match.

Portsmouth boss Steve Cotterill said: "What will happen is that will make the headlines - 'the lights went out at Pompey'.

"Well I'll tell you what - the lights are still burning here. They might have gone out for 20 minutes, but that could have happened at any ground in the country.

"It happened in Portsmouth and if we had been playing away, no-one would have known about it. The whole world will know about it now.

"It had no bearing on the result, no bearing on the performance of both teams, and it was a good game of football."

Asked how the fans would have reacted if Utaka had scored when clean through as the referee blew for the first floodlight failure, he added: "It would have kicked off massively then.

"That (Utaka scoring) would have been fantastic - I would have loved that to happen.

"How would they have got out of that one? "What he (the referee) should have done then is come (into the press room) and explain why he blew the whistle then, or stand in front the Sky cameras or the BBC.

"But they don't, do they? They sit and have a little chat with the assessor and then they go home and get tucked up in bed tonight."

Leeds boss Simon Grayson felt they could have gone on and won the game had the floodlights not failed.

Grayson said: "We certainly stepped up with our second half performance. There were a lot of good opportunities, a good tempo to the game and the performance we know we are capable of producing.

"Portsmouth had the best of the first half and we had the best of the second half. Overall, it was probably an even and fair result.

"We knew at half-time that we might be fortunate to still be in the game at 1-0. We knew we had to pass the ball a lot better and get our passing game and creativity going.

"The early goal gave us a real boost. We really upped the ante and the lights didn't help us because we were in the ascendancy."

On his transfer plans this week, Grayson added: "I have a free week now to try to get one or two players in.

"Obviously Andy Hughes left to go to Scunthorpe and we'll probably need to fill his shoes.

"There are a couple of areas where I would like to bring players to the club and I'll have an opportunity with a clear week to try to do that.

"We've been linked with some good players and attracting players to Leeds United has never been a problem in the past. Hopefully it won't be a problem in the next week or so while I am working at it."
