Fletcher urges Sunderland pal Altidore to not dwell on howler

Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher has urged Jozy Altidore to forget about his howler in their draw with West Ham United.

Sebastian Larsson pulled the ball back from the byline in the last minute of first-half added time to present Altidore with a great chance to put his side 2-1 up. The American's only contact with the ball was with his hand.

There were other chances for both sides to win the game afterwards, but that none were converted made Altidore's miss harder to take.

"It could have changed the game," admitted Fletcher to the Evening Chronicle. "He's disappointed, but these things happen. We all miss chances. He'll get over it quite quickly and hopefully come back stronger for a big game next weekend."
