Fletcher proud to captain West Brom on debut

Darren Fletcher says he was proud to captain West Bromwich Albion in Sunday's 2-2 draw at Burnley.

Tony Pulis decided to give the former Manchester United man the captain's armband on the eve of the game.

The 31-year-old said: "The manager pulled me before the match and said he'd spoke to Brunty about it and that he was fine about it, and that it was my job to be captain.

"It's something I've been used to in the past for Scotland and Manchester United so it was a great honour. The lads were all fantastic and backed me and listened to me.

"We dug in deep, a few words at half time and we've managed to come back. Hopefully it's a starting point and we can go forward and get some wins."
