Fletcher: Man Utd players have too many games to get up to no good

Darren Fletcher says Manchester United's players can't get themselves into trouble because they play so many games in a season.

The Scotland midfielder says United's heavy schedule means the chance of a late night partying is a rarity.

He told the United We Stand fanzine: "I once had half a pint of Magners! I was at the races with the lads. It felt like I was drinking apple juice.

"The lads always wind me up and say: 'If we win the league then we're celebrating and you're getting p*ssed.' But when it comes to that point, they are all too busy enjoying themselves to think about me."

"We're not angels, I should say that. We can go wild on a night out too, but we have learned to choose our time when we go out.

"Players from other clubs can afford to because they have all week to recover. I don't look at them with envy because they are going out because I'd rather be playing in the Champions League, hearing that music and playing in the best stadiums in the world against the best players.

"And when I look back on my career, I know where I would rather have been. I will look back and see that I've played against the top players and the top teams year after year, not just in one season because we managed to sneak into the Champions League."
