Fletcher: Man Utd desperate for Chelsea revenge

Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher admits the club is haunted by the day two years ago when Chelsea thumped them at Stamford Bridge to win the title for Jose Mourinho.

United have the chance to turn the tables tomorrow and Scotland international Fletcher said: "I was on the bench that day - it was horrible.

"They beat us quite convincingly. It was a disappointing day.

"Chelsea were pretty much assured of winning the league but we wanted to go there and say 'This is what we can do'.

"We got well beaten. But I like to think hopefully that gave us the determination to go on and win it the year after."

Fletcher is back in contention after missing more than a month with a knee ligament injury.

Speaking at a 'Sponsored by you' event organised by Nationwide Building Society, he said: "It would be nice to win it at Stamford Bridge.

"They have not been beaten there for years - their record is ridiculous.

"So that's another challenge, to win the league and break that record.

"Maybe that would set up a psychological disadvantage for them for next season - you have to think about things like that.

"And we could end up playing them in the Champions League final as well - so that would give us an edge if we can beat them."
