Jon Flanagan was thrilled to be back in action for Liverpool after 28 matches without a start for the club.
The 19-year old right-back played a full 90 minutes in the Anfield fixture against Wigan Athletic on Saturday - his first start since opening day of the season - and although he felt he did well, he was quite disappointed with the 2-1 loss.
"We worked hard and we're obviously disappointed with the result, but we've got to pick ourselves up for the next game.
"Everyone in the dressing room is very disappointed because we dominated the game.
"I'll keep training hard and try to impress the boss and hopefully get more game time.""I think I did all right, but the result is the main thing and we're all disappointed with that," he said.
Reds boss Kenny Dalglish also handed a first Premier League start to 17-year old winger Raheem Sterling which pleased the slightly more experienced Flanagan who feels there is plenty to offer from a youth point of view on Merseyside.
"I was delighted for Raheem," he added. "Kenny gave the young kids a chance again, which is great for the club. It shows what we've got coming through."
