Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has named Mathieu Flamini as his tongue-in-cheek choice for Arsenal's player of the year.
The Frenchman has recently been in the news for his investment in geo-energy company GF Biochemicals that produces a synthetic substitute for oil.
The 31-year-old's company could very well play a part in the fight against Global Warming and as a result, he has been nominated as one of NME People of the year.
The Frenchman, who scored a brace in Arsenal's 2-1 League Cup win over local rivals Tottenham in September, has also played a key role in Arsene Wenger's side since the injury to Francis Coquelin.
"It's got to be Mathieu Flamini with everything that's going on around him," said Oxlade-Chamberlain when asked about his choice for Arsenal's player of the year.
"He's just smashed it. Who knows what he's up to but if you look over the archives I've always said Mathieu Flamini is taking over the world from within the Arsenal dressing room.
"He's proven me right and his two goals against Spurs were unbelievable and that was a great moment to be a part of.
"For him to score two goals in the derby when he was our holding midfielder that night was amazing. I don't know what he was doing up there for the first goal and the volley was just a great goal.
"Every time he's been asked to come on he's done a great job for us being the quality player he is. And all that stuff with his business is unbelievable so Flam is the man of the year for me."
