Flamengo have expressed interest in AS Roma striker Adriano.
With threats of Adriano's contract being terminated coming from Roma management, a return to Brazil is being mooted.
Flamengo vice-president Leo Moura said: "We know what happened in the past, but people grow up. It is always important to have great players in our team."
The stumbling block could be coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo, who is against the prospect of bringing Adriano to Flamengo.
