Fit-again Bale happy to be back for Tottenham

Gareth Bale is delighted to be back in action for Tottenham.

The Wales winger hopes to start against West Ham United this weekend.

"I'm more than happy to be back," Bale told the Spurs website. "I've been working hard in training trying to build up my fitness. I'm getting closer and closer, but the main thing now is to get some games and get back to the level I was playing at before.

"I'd had a great year or so and it was therefore a blow to get an injury. But on the other hand, it's given me time to recharge my batteries and get ready for the rest of the season. So although it wasn't nice to be injured, I'm trying to use it as a positive.

"Hopefully I can get my place in the team back and help us to finish as high up the table as possible.

"It was a tight run-in last year and I think it may be even tighter this year. The Champions League will make it an extra special run-in but we're all ready and can't wait for it."
