First Melbourne derby officially sold out

The first-ever A-League Melbourne derby is officially sold out.

Tonight's clash between Melbourne Heart and Melbourne Victory at AAMI Park has now attracted 30,000 fans who will pack out Australia's best soccer-specific stadium.

Heart CEO Scott Munn was delighted with the news and expected the Heart v Victory rivalry to become the biggest in the A-League.

"The sell out is a fantastic result for the Hyundai A-League and ensures a capacity crowd will witness what will surely be remembered as one of the biggest football games in recent history," he said.

"We have no doubt both sets of supporters will generate an electric atmosphere on the night, as cross-city rivals battle it out for the first time in the Hyundai A-League.

"And with the best football stadium in the country, AAMI Park, as the setting, the first ever staging of the Melbourne Derby is sure to be an amazing spectacle."

The match kicks off at 7:30pm tonight, Friday October 8 at AAMI Park in Melbourne.
