Carlo Ancelotti is being linked with a sensational return to Real Madrid.
With Barcelona running way with the LaLiga title, Real coach Zinedine Zidane is coming under increasing pressure to get their campaign back on the rails.
Inside the boardroom, Real directors are considering alternatives, though president Florentino Perez is adamant the Frenchman remains the right man for the job.
However, Don Balon says Perez hasn't completely ruled out a change should results not improve and would consider hiring a firefighter to the end of the season if the unthinkable was to be forced upon him.
And top of the president's shortlist is giving the job to Ancelotti on a short-term basis. The Italian remains available after his dismissal by Bayern Munich and is still popular with the players inside the Real locker room.
However, for now, Zidane retains the full backing of his president going into the winter break.
