Savio Nsereko insists his time at West Ham United was not a waste.

The German winger, 20, joined West Ham from Brescia in January for a fee rising to £9million.

But he was shipped out to Fiorentina on Monday after failing to impress Hammers boss Gianfranco Zola.

Despite just making 11 appearances, Savio said: "The experience at West Ham went rather well but I know that English football is different.

"I am happy to be in Florence. Fiorentina are a great team and when they called up I didn't think twice."
