Fiorentina striker Adrian Mutu slammed the local media after last night's 0-0 Champions League draw with Steaua Bucharest.

Mutu is furious preparations for the Steaua clash were unsettled by reports of a blow-up with coach Cesare Prandelli.

He said: "Everything in the newspapers is a load of rubbish. The issue with Roma was finished in the summer and those who write these things in the media just want to hurt Fiorentina.

"I have an excellent rapport with Prandelli. I saw my tension in the last Serie A game caused waves, but as I explained in a Press conference I put everything in and get angry when I am substituted because I want to play all the time.

"I do know when I am not playing well, so I hardly need to read criticism in the papers to realise that."
