Fiorentina are in talks with Sunderland for Modibo Diakite.
The Mirror says Black Cats boss Gus Poyet is happy to let the former Lazio man return to Serie A after bringing in Santiago Vergini from Estudiantes.
And with the Florence club still battling on three fronts, they are more than happy to pay the £400,000 loan fee to secure Diakite until the end of the season.
