Fiorentina snap up Liverpool's Aquilani

Fiorentina have given Alberto Aquilani a pathway out of his Liverpool nightmare.

The 28-year old midfielder has struggled to make an impact at Anfield since his £20million move from AS Roma in the summer of 2009 with subsequent loan deals with Juventus and AC Milan.

It appeared as though he was set to remain with the Reds following the arrival of new manager Brendan Rodgers but a statement on the club's official websitehas confirmed his departure to Florence.

"Liverpool Football Club can today confirm that Alberto Aquilani has completed a permanent transfer to Serie A side Fiorentina," read the statement.

"The Italian midfielder joined Liverpool in 2009 but made just 28 first-team appearances having spent the last two seasons on loan in his homeland.

"Everyone at the club would like to wish Alberto all the best for the future."
