Fiorentina signing Mario Gomez admits he chatted with Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola before making the move.
The striker made the move last week.
Gomez said: "I was eager to take on a new challenge after winning everything with Bayern.
"Guardiola also recommended Fiorentina to me because they play attractive, attacking football. He also said really good things about (Viola coach Vincenzo) Montella.
"The city is fantastic and was a factor in my choice but the thing that matters most to me is the football. I wanted for nothing at Bayern, but the most important thing was always playing as much as I could.
"My dream is to win something here in Italy and I won't talk about scoring a specific number of goals. I just want to do the best I can."
