Fiorentina president 'optimistic' about landing Chelsea winger Salah

Fiorentina appear to be closing in on a deal for Chelsea's Mohamed Salah.

Egyptian winger Salah sparkled on loan for the Italian side last season, with nine goals in 27 appearances in all competitions.

Fiorentina president Diego Della Valle is buoyant about a transfer deal being agreed.

"We are trying to keep him, this is the decisive day," Della Valle said.

"Personally, I am optimistic about the negotiations succeeding. We will understand everything this evening."

Additionally, Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade said the Florence outfit had made a very nice offer to the former FC Basel star.

"I tell the fans that the club has made an insane offer to Salah. If any player, not just Salah, turned down a proposal like that, then it's best he doesn't stay at Fiorentina," Prade said.

"However, I think Salah will accept. He made a huge impact with us, so it's normal that he should receive calls from elsewhere."
