Fiorentina midfielder Borja Valero has given up on breaking into the Spain squad.

Valero has been outstanding for the Viola over the past 12 months.

"I honestly don't think about it anymore," he told AS. "The squad has now come together and is essentially closed.

"I always play to give my best, but I think for me, it is almost impossible to play at the World Cup."
