Adrian Mutu was delighted to prove Fiorentina's matchwinner yesterday against Cagliari.

Mutu scored the only goal to defeat Cagliari 1-0 this afternoon and rushed to hug his coach on the sidelines.

"I dedicate this goal to (Sinisa) Mihajlovic, who defended me in public when many others might not have done, and to the fans for their support during the ban," he said.

"This was one of the best days of 2010 and in all honesty I can't wait for this year to end. The important thing was to win today and continue the path we were on in recent games.

"We knew that we could struggle against Cagliari, but those results you get while sweating are always the sweetest."
