Ba had already been linked with Serie A as cover for Zlatan Ibrahimovic at AC Milan.
It is rumoured that the Viola are preparing to pounce with an offer of 6m, although that price-tag could be reduced considerably.
Fiorentina are hoping to use their versatile forward Ndiaye Papa Waigo as part of the deal.
