Fiorentina determined to make cut-price capture of Man Utd's Berbatov

Italian club Fiorentina are hoping they can push through a deal for Manchester United's Dimitar Berbatov.

The Bulgarian striker is almost certain to leave Old Trafford this August and La Viola are looking to bring him to Florence so he can play beside the highly-rated Stevan Jovetic.

With the signing of Robin van Persie, it appears as though there is no place for Berbatov in Sir Alex Ferguson's line-up and an exit could be the only thing that will get him playing regular first team football again.

It is believed that Fiorentina are only prepared to pay just under half of the £8million United want for the former Tottenham star but Ferguson is set to allow Berba to leave for a cut price after a personal plea.
