The 28-year-old was substituted in the 73rd minute of the Viola's match with Roma on Sunday after picking up a knee injury.
"ACF Fiorentina announced that today the player Mario Gomez underwent orthopaedic examination and diagnostic tests," a statement on the club's official website reads.
"This is following a reported sprain in his left knee sustained in the Serie A match yesterday.
"Grade I collateral ligament damage has been detected. The player must now rest for a week before undergoing more medical and radiological checks next week."
