Fiorentina coach Prandelli snaps back over Gilardino dismissal

Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli snapped back at reporters over Alberto Gilardino's dismissal in their 1-0 defeat to Lyon.

Lyon midfielder Miralem Pjanic struck in the second-half for the winner.

"I didn't see anything from the bench. Gilardino told me he absolutely did not hit the player on purpose. No, there's no point even commenting on that," rapped Prandelli when watching the incident back on tape.

"He looked over his shoulder so he could defend the ball and know where his opponent was. It's such a pity, as we were doing well and were fired up for this game."

The Viola saw Gilardino red carded just before half-time and held on to a point until 14 minutes from time when Lyon won the match with a Pjanic tap-in.

"It's a shame as Fiorentina were very balanced in the first half and we would've liked to play with 11 men against 11 right to the end."
