Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli took a swipe at Diego Della Valle over his resignation as president last week.
Della Valle announced on Tuesday that he would no longer be the club's patron, citing 'manipulation' and striking fans as the reasons behind his decision.
"I have only perceived a great deal of love on behalf everyone, and when you love something so much you can be naïve," he said.
"But the fans should be calm. They mustn't divide themselves, but instead be close to the club and the owner.
"When you are too much in love, sometimes you take certain things for granted, sometimes you end a relationship when instead a little clarity would be enough.
"Of course we will all come out a lot stronger from this heartache."
