Fiorentina director general Andrea Rogg has played down talk of Mario Suarez is leaving.

The midfielder was dropped for their draw at Europa League opponents FC Basel.

“Mario Suarez is a champion who has proved his worth," director general Rogg told Sky Sport Italia.

“Obviously he won't be on the field today. There was a calm discussion with the Coach and we were informed by the tactician that Mario is preparing for the following games, seeing as we want to play many over this season."
