Fiorentina chief Corvino: We want Mihajlovic as new coach

Fiorentina have confirmed they want Sinisa Mihajlovic to replace new Italy coach Cesare Prandelli.

Fiorentina have confirmed they want Sinisa Mihajlovic to replace new Italy coach Cesare Prandelli.

Prandelli had a further year on his contract with Fiorentina but has agreed with the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) to replace Marcello Lippi as national team coach this summer.

"Mihajlovic? We are focusing on him," said Corvino. "We are waiting to end the contract with Prandelli. We will announce our new coach soon."

Corvino also voiced his anger at the manner in which his club found out about Prandelli's appointment.

"We allowed Prandelli to hold talks with the FIGC and we knew that both sides would meet after the return from (our tour in) Canada," Corvino said.

"But what we didn't like was that we heard that an official agreement had been reached from the media.

"No-one announced it to us."
