Fiorentina sports director Pantaleo Corvino has shrugged off losing out to Genoa in their battle for Inter Milan striker Hernan Crespo.
Corvino said: "Signing Crespo seemed like a great idea. Both he and his agent moved the project forward without worrying themselves about the economic aspects.
"When the Press asked me about his possible arrival I expressed myself positively. But then other teams liked my idea.
"For Crespo and his agent, the issue of money and the length of his contract got taken by the wind.
"It's a shame, but I don't carry a grudge," he said. "Seeing that an 'old player' disappointed me I could focus on a young one."
