Fiorentina sports chief Pantaleo Corvino insists there is nothing wrong with Italy's youth system, despite so many talented youngsters being lost to Premiership clubs.
The Viola lost Michele Fornasier in the summer to Manchester United, but Corvino cited another Italian as an example of why moving to the Premiership doesn't always work out.
"What's the reason for our young people going abroad? Maybe for the initial contract proposed by some busybody who is out to exploit the labor of others," said Corvino.
"Take for example the most talented Italian who went to England. Giuseppe Rossi is now in Spain (Villarreal) and many others have returned, without even making their debut in the Premier League."
But Corvino also conceded: "Only one in 10,000 youngsters make their debut in Serie A. But it is not impossible, if there is a serious project behind the player."
